The Brief

We were asked if we could help with producing oak rood screen panels based on a Lawrence Llewellyn-Bowen design. We were also asked if we could manufacture the wall units, panels, solid oak vertical posts and rebuild a drinks unit all to fit into the overall design concept. We recieved all of this via fax at 4pm.

Design & Materials

At 8pm the Homefront team visited us to discuss the project and see the 2d autocad drawings we had produced from the facsimile. They were impressed to see a 3D rendered image that could be viewed from any perspective. It was produced on Licom AlphaCam - the Cad-Cam software used to run the CNC router upon which the oak panels were to be machined. The next stage was to program the CNC router to machine the panels.
After many discussions and some compromise on the design to allow for the machining paths, we produced some prototypes that were approved. These subsequently found there way onto another BBC program upon which Lawrence was a guest where the contestants had to guess what the item was - their nearest guess was a wooden ski!
